Day 63 – Week 8, we get the front door key!!

03 Sep

Friday (yesterday) was day 63, end of week 8 and the builder handed us the front door key. Most of the windows are in, just 5 more units to go, including the back door. It’s great being in the house now, the upstairs is all closed in, so its getting warm up there… it gave us a little taste of what’s to come!

As the windows have been going in, Rob and I have been frantically trying to figure out what kind of flooring and tiles we’re going to use, it’s a bit of a nightmare. Trying to fit personal taste and budget together!

I’m starting to get nervous about the finished house, and just hope that we do it justice. I feel responsible to get it all right…

Here are a few pictures of the windows (from the inside) that have been installed and the big metal front door! We’re going to have to get used to that!! For some reason when we ordered the windows, we (I) didn’t give any thought to the design of the front door. I just hadn’t realised it was all coming in the same shipment, from the same company. Well, can’t change it now! 🙂

WOW!!!! It is looking fantastic Irene. So exciting. Your front door is gorgeous on the inside. I also like the outside but I understand it must have been a shock i you were expecting wood! You could always paint it a bright colour i you wanted? I actually think it looks great though as it is.

It must be incredible to be able to put a key in your own front door and walk in! Wow! We will look forward to visiting. The views from the windows are so pretty. I can’t believe how quickly you are at the stage of having to decide about floors, kitchens, bathrooms, paint colours, etc. It is incredible. The fun insulation stuff must be arriving soon too! Just remember that floors, etc can all be changed in the future so make the decisions that are right for now. The only advice I can give from our attic experience is – you can never have too many sockets!

So happy it is all going so well. You guys deserve it.

    Love
    Sheena.

You’re so sweet Sheena, thank you and I’m really glad you like the door. It’s growing on me too! Right there with you on the sockets issue. Mom says to put them everywhere!! It can definitely be frustrating when you want to plug something in and can’t!! It is lovely walking in through the front door now, though we still have to reattach the ramp as the permanent structure at the front won’t be done for a while!! It’s funny having a foot and a half drop outside the door!! We had to pick flooring now because they needed to know that the floor height would be, but it won’t be installed for a few more months yet!! Tis great to have that part almost decided, I was really worrying about it! Love you loads, i
