Day 39 – Stairs!

11 Aug

Today has been a wonderful day, for many reasons, but one big reason was because today we were able to walk upstairs, and look at some of the views we’ll have from the bedrooms!! A temporary stairs was fitted, to make access to the upstairs much easier. We also got a ramp to the front door. Usually in a new build the builders use ladders until the permanent stairs is installed. That seems like madness to me, but there you go!

Big sister asked how we’re going to keep the house warm, because the wood (in its present state) doesn’t look very warm! Indeed, there is still much ventilation passing through the house.. You can check out this link to see how the house will be insulated! Though the brand of the insulation in the video is different, the one we are using will do the same thing!

Today’s photos show the new stairs, and the down stairs in the process of being cleaned up. The joisted were bridged and the plywood upstair was layed and sealed. What really impressed me today was how everyone was so concerned with attention to detail. To have the place looking tidy and clean, with all the wood shavings brushed away. To see the scrap wood, which will be used later for other jobs, neatly piled in one room. Keeping the place clean and tidy, takes time.. but makes the working environment safer and more pleasant!

Thanks guys for your hard work!

WOW – THAT INSULATING STUFF IS AMAZING!!! LOOKS LIKE SO MUCH FUN TO USE! Also the house is looking fantastic. Can’t believe how much is done already. I’ll keep praying that you had all the tests in the pre-build stage and that you get to enjoy this part as much as possible.

I know it’s brilliant isn’t it!!! I don’ know if they’ll let me watch while its being installed.. but can’t wait to see it going in! I’m really enjoying this part.. though today was a tough day of raking and pulling stones to get the place ready for grass.. back breaking work!! But thankfully so far, all is going great! Keep the prayers coming though!

    Hello Ireland, Holland is calling!!

It is very nice. I had Ton on the phone and he talld me about the floor. Give the builders also a complement.

    Have a good week-end.

I will certainly complement the builders, they are doing a great job! We have two days of dry weather now, so we are going to plant the grass, finally!!
